The Anthem story begins with the innovation and insight that was established back in 1960 when the first Del Webb community, Sun City, was introduced for active adults and retirement was redefined. Over 100,000 people visited on Grand Opening weekend, establishing a trend for the future success of Del Webb.

In 1999, Del Webb again demonstrated true vision and created the first Anthem community. A national real estate story, it was the first master-planned community of its kind, featuring amenities designed specifically for people of all-ages. Community living for families was reinvented, providing residents with activities to participate in, right in their own backyard, and reconnect with a way of life they'd not been able to experience elsewhere in Phoenix. Throughout it's history, the Anthem community has received many awards and honors for its innovative design, including the "#1 Best Master-Planned Community in America". Based on the overwhelming response to our first Anthem, Del Webb has created another community to carry on the Anthem legacy, Anthem at Merrill Ranch.
